Funcunt - Coldeaccol (1991)

Genre: Death/Rock/Metal/Jazz/Pretty Much Everything
Country:  Finland (of course)

I usually can't stand avant-garde metal.  It's mostly pointless theoretical wankery that is neither good nor as intelligent as the bands might think.  Funcunt is 100% absolutely pointless wankery.  There are some death metal riffs and some blasty parts, then some jazz breakdowns with saxophone and some slap bass and i think even in one part the vocalist starts rapping but I'm not totally sure.  Only Finland could produce something as insanely stupid and yet strangely enjoyable as this demo.  Plus they're called Funcunt, which just might be the best band name of all time.  If you are in the mood to listen to anything remotely serious avoid this at all costs.  That being said I think everyone who is into extreme metal in the slightest should give this a listen through at least once. It's worth it.

Prevalent Resistance - Eternal Return (2008)

Genre: Black Metal
Country: Finland

Prevalent Resistance play a more straight-up form of black metal, but they play it damn well. Anyone who has heard Dynamics of Creation will know that they may not be the most original band around, but they are very good at what they do. Their riffing is on the melodic side and the vox are great, plus they are Finnish. We all know being Finnish is the most important thing of all.

Portal - LP Discography (2003 - 2009)

Genre: Black/Death Metal
Country: Australia

Ah yes, in honor of H.P. Lovecraft's birthday, here is the LP discography of one of the most fucked up blackened death metal bands you will ever hear. Seriously, listen to this shit in the dark, it is a truly interesting experience...

The fourth picture above is The Curator's new look...and if you ask me it is just as badass as his previous incarnations. Can't wait for the new album from these guys.

Deteriorot - In Ancient Beliefs (2001)

Genre: Death Metal
Country: United States

Some dark and seriously filthy old school work from the gutters of New Jersey. Accented by some of the meanest gutturals heard this side of Antti Boman and Frank Mullen, this record bombards with a destructive mix of tremolo madness, trudging riff fests and eerie leads that recall to bands such as Morpheus Descends, retro Incantation and Wombbath. Death metal fans should not be without this one in their collection.

Rahu - The Quest for the Vajra of Shadows (2012)

Genre: Black Metal
Country: Finland

So, for my first post here i'd like to follow up on something i never got to fix on Pervert the Church before it got destroyed by the capitalist pigs (RIP).  Rahu is yet another black metal project courtesy of the guys behind bands like Circle of Ouroborus, Vordr, and Prevalent Resistance.  They released two EP's a few years ago but finally in 2012 they unleash on us their first full length, which so far is my favorite black metal this year.  This has been leaked for a while now but the original rip was fucked up and had the last 30 or so seconds of the tracks cut off on each one.  Thankfully there is a good rip out now so those of you who have the bad one or have yet to hear this can jump on it, because it really is quite good.

Also i wanna thank Crysis for bringing me on here to post for you guys, i promise i'll only bring the kvlt and crush.

A Little Dose of Hyperion

So it seems we here at Ghosts of Saturn have dragged on another crew member, this time in the form of our friend Hyperion. We like to think he knows what he's talking about and won't post crap (although I'm almost certain he really likes bands like Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir) but just in case he does there is an emergency contingency plan to murder him and swiftly dispose of his corpse. Why? For the glory of Satan of course!

Ash Borer - Cold of Ages (2012)

Genre: Atmospheric Black Metal
Country: United States

This is the first release by Ash Borer on Profound Lore - a label that is snatching up talented metal bands with a startling pace - and also their first album to ever be released on CD. Yes, that is trve indeed, but I will miss the mad scramble to order a copy of a tape release limited to 150, and the sense of satisfaction knowing that you have more people on your Facebook friends list than there are people who have this tape. Oh well, bands move on and become less krieg.

Eroded - Engravings of a Gruesome Epitaph (2012)

Genre: Death Metal
Country: Italy

Thick, punchy old school death metal from Italy taking influences from a host of bands that I am way too fucking lazy to list off right now, so suffice to say that it slays (like the artwork) and you should probably get on it as soon as possible.

Cornigr - Relics Of Inner War (2011)

Genre: Black Metal
Country: Finland

The Finns have a tendency for making nearly any metal sub-genre sound better than their contemporaries. Everyone knows how good the Finnish death metal scene is, but they are also unleashing some ferocious black metal as well, and that is what you will find on Relics of Inner War. Being a more traditional black metal record, this one relies on pure composition to make itself rise above the murky abyss that is current black metal standards, and with that exceptional ability to compose ripping bm comes an effortless and palpable atmosphere. It's full of satan and riffs, so come and get it.
